Disclosure – Control Featuring Ria Ritchie

Posted on by Joe Bish Artist: /

After creating a shoo-in summer hit with their remix of Jessie Ware’s Running, South London brothers Disclosure once again get the formula correct like a couple of 14th century alchemists, collaborating with vocalist Ria Ritchie. You can pre-order their new EP The Face by following the link on the Soundcloud below. I’m dreading the day someone christens it ‘nu-garage’.

‘Anni’ is taken from the forthcoming EP, Increases II, released through GETME! in June.

XXYYXX – About You

As the sun is still holding up here in London town, we offer up to you some 140bpm summertime UKG. Originally a track that edged on the head bopping side of garage, but settled somewhere inbetween and never fully entered in. Leeds based producer brought it out of all confusion. Squeezed the vocals to almost a non comprehendable 90′s screech, inserted some pauses for hands in the air and packed in some shuffling beats for good measure.

I was lucky to hear this track a couple weeks back thanks to the good folk over at Relentless and they say there is plenty more to come from Jamie Grind.

Savages – Flying To Berlin

If you haven’t already, this second track from Savages debut Pop Noire single should convince you to move your lazy, lazy, fingers enough to go and buy it. According to The Fader, lead singer Jehnny has explained the song is about a bird’s death by aeroplane engine becoming a metaphor for how love is like a plane crash. Thanks Jehnny, now I feel a bit weird about dancing to it so enthusiastically.

This is a new cut from the Dark Paradise EP, ‘Goods’ presents darker strands in ILLLS’ sound: driving acoustic guitars, looming synths and a steady drum-machine pummel casting late afternoon shades over a vocal trembling with a wistful, nervous energy, setting a mood equally consoling and claustrophobic.
